In the last few years, there has been an increasing number of libraries in R devoted to analyse different satellite images. The most well-known satellites are Landsat, Modis and Sentinel because all of them provide free images. Scenes must be projected and fitted to the adequate contours in order to choose the appropriate information for every region.
In this work we describe the necessary steps for downloading Landsat satellite images and comment on the available libraries in R for analysing them. We also illustrate the procedures for downloading and extracting different information, for example land surface temperatures in Navarre. Furthermore, classical and new statistical methods can be applied for smoothing them.
